The Hugs of Death!

All right, Let me preface this.  It is all in good fun.  No Dogs were harmed in the making of this web page.  Thanks to my brother Mike for his creativity!

It started out innocent enough. We were all hanging out one day and Dad grabbed the dog and applied the Hug of Death right there in front of me.

Turns out the whole family has a history of doing this and it had never been shared with me.

Even though I was an adult at this point and would never fully master the craft, I took a crash course so I could pass down the tradition to my daughter.

I started her with the purple bastard and worked up from there.

The following photos show our successes and failures along the way.

Sometimes she got the hang of it really quick and showed great potential.

Other times it seemed like she’d never get it right.

Here she’s got the grip down from behind, obviously showing great potential.

Then disaster would strike and we’d catch her snacking on the practice animals.

Uncle Terry demonstrates his patented strangle/sandwich technique. Amber was thrilled to get to help.

We gave her a practice kitty and she showed great promise.

Time for the real thing. Looks like she’s getting the hang of it. Time to prepare her for the big stuff.

With the practice horse she learns how to knock them out first by shutting off their air supply.

Then she learns how to throw them down. She got so excited after learning this move she decided to snap the horse’s leg as well. She’s a fast learner.

We introduced her to something a little smaller than a horse for her next live animal but the beast proved too large. Brenda wound up having to do all the work for Amber with this one.

This dog was a much better size. Brenda shows Amber the proper hold.

Amber sets down her book, picks up the dog……

and spikes it in the end zone. Woo hoo. What a smooth move. The kid’s a natural after all.

When it’s all over, a proper burial is a must. Here Amber pays her respects.

Aren’t family traditions great!

I scoured the web and found some other examples.  Who knew it was such a popular past time!?
